Introduction to Xavier Dragnesi - the Story and the Man

Xavier Dragnesi is my own personal brainchild. His story stems from a myriad of personal thoughts, imaginations, dreams and wishes which I have accumulated over the years. As a character, his story has developed through my mind, drawing on ideas from books that I have read and growing into a person that though nearly invincible, has his faults, his problems and his life-threatening situations. This blog aims to set down the story in as concrete a form as I can make it, as the actual storyline constantly shifts as I think about it. I shall aim to continue for as long as I am able, since as of now, I see no end to it.

The background of the man itself is rather vague, I must say. The setting of the story is around 1800 years ago in a world that is much like what our own was back then, but with an element of magic in it, though not vastly fantasy-related with monsters and like. Xavier is a wanderer, a traveller before the start of the story. He was raised in the Orient, and tutored in Chinese martial arts and Oriental tactics. He has no set visual appearance, but I think of him to be moderately tall, well built but rather thin, with shoulder length black hair and a thin goatee. He is skilled in all 18 of the ancient Chinese weapons, but commonly uses two longswords, and specialises in what the Chinese call a "da dao", most alike to a halberd. He wields the power of fire as well, and has the ability to sprout two giant wings from his back, though he does not use them often. The picture included probably is the best representation of him I can find, with the similar sort of halberd weapon and the same sort of wings. He does not wear a helmet however, and is clad in light, black, titanium armour and carries no shield.

His partner, his wife, in this adventure is a woman named Ritanna. She also originates from the Orient, but from more nomadic backgrounds. She most often appears in my mind as of moderate height, lithe and elegant, with no extreme beauty but much gracefulness. She specialises in her accuracy with a bow, and in melee wields a pair of medium sized battleaxes. Her power is that of healing and prayer. Her protection is strong and supple leather armour which gives her greater flexibility. Both she and Xavier have been blessed with powers of longevity, so they age slowly, and can only be killed by a stab through the heart. Together, they are traveling towards the West to discover more about the great empire they have heard about called the Roman Empire, currently at it's height of power. The story starts them in mid-journey, on the road to the West.

It's lucky that very few will read this, since this jumble of ideas and concepts is most likely enough to confuse or bewilder even the stoutest of minds that try to tackle it. My thoughts wander far further than reality could ever allow, and create a story that is probably random to the point of idiocy. But here they are, in all their tangled glory. And here the story of Xavier Dragnesi and Ritanna begins.
